A Review of Mardee's Breakfast Restaurant
If there's one thing about me you should know, it's that I LOVE breakfast. It is true that it is the best and most important meal of the day. If someone told me I could only eat one kind of food for the rest of my life I would easily choose breakfast foods. What's more is I love breakfast dates or brunches with family. Whether it's after a church service or before an early shift, they always leave me ready to start a great day.
Mardee's is a quaint breakfast spot just down the road from my house. I had been there a few times when I first moved to Clarence Center in middle school, but I wasn't particularly fond of it. In recent years, it has been bought and re-done on the inside and out to give it a more modern feel.
My boyfriend took me there on August 7th to celebrate it being my last day of working my summer job. It was the perfect place to celebrate such a milestone. The staff is so warm and welcoming and the quiet interior allows for a peaceful meal. Now, ideally I would be ordering two sunny side up eggs, bacon, homefries (extra, EXTRA crispy), and a side of toast. Yet, due to COVID-19, and its effects on my taste buds, I have not been able to eat eggs since about April. The only time I can eat eggs right now is when I order a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant from Dunkin' Donuts, but I think that's because their food is probably extremely processed.
So, if anyone else out there is suffering from 'weird' taste buds and also can't have eggs, here's the next best thing. I ordered two french toast slices, home fries (and yes it's crucial that they are extra, EXTRA crispy), and bacon. Let me just say that Mardee's did not disappoint. The french toast were big and fluffy and the homefries lived up to my request and were especially crispy. If you enjoy light, small, yet flavorful pieces of bacon, well this is the place for you! I finished my meal full, but not overstuffed and extremely satisfied.
After an amazing meal I truly was ready to face the day. Your last shift is always the longest shift, or at least in my opinion. I will definitely be heading back to Mardee's at least one more time before I go back to college.
