A Review of Wonder Coffeehouse

I have to be honest; this wasn’t my first trip to the coffeehouse. I actually went a little over a year ago when they first opened up. Back then it was a limited menu and there wasn’t much to judge yet. Not that I would ever judge this place because as you will read it is amazing. Here is me a year ago (looking rough) when it first opened up:

Thankfully, not only did I have a glow up but so did the menu! I was so pleasantly surprised when I went online and saw an array of new options to browse through. They now have a multitude of ways to have your waffle whether you prefer savory or sweet. As a big coffee lover, I was also excited to see more options in regards to how they can make your cup of joe.

Now, Wonder Coffeehouse is a bit of a drive as it is located in Downtown Buffalo. Therefore, from my house, it is about a 35-minute drive with light traffic. When I tell you, I would drive this every single day just to be able to have their delicious waffles, I’m not exaggerating. To be honest its location is apart of what adds to the charm and ultimately draws you in.

The scenery is so raw and industrial, very unlike your local Starbucks in the suburbs. I believe this is why small businesses are so appealing to buy from despite prices tending to be higher. You are paying for an experience as well. The workers genuinely care about making your experience as great as possible.

Upon first impressions, I have to say I love how innovative they got with providing seating while following COVID restrictions. They offered socially distanced outdoor dining that provided many photo ops (which I of course took advantage of). Keeping along with the industrial theme, part of the outdoor seating you could choose from were inside open shipping containers with heating.

You could also sit at these dainty tables with a beautiful floral backdrop. It is the perfect place for a coffee date with your significant other, an afternoon out with the girls or a place to bring the family after church. The range of this coffeehouse is impressive.

I haven’t even gotten to the inside of the building yet, which by the way has such an elegant presentation. Attention was paid to every single detail from the color of the menu to the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. My favorite part is that instead of regular booths, they instead have beautiful blue couches that are comfy and invite you to sit in conversation for hours.

Alright alright enough about the surroundings and the building, let’s talk food. There are an overwhelming amount of choices and varieties. The names are even more fun such as the “Captain Obvious” which includes a fried egg and bacon on a waffle with maple syrup. If you have a sweet tooth they have options that can satisfy it like the “I Mean Duh” which have a crepe-like resemblance being topped with strawberries, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream.

I, unfortunately, suffer from an addiction to chicken and waffles, so I ultimately went for the simple but underrated dish. I paired it with a caramel flavored coffee shake. This was one of the best meals I have ever had. The chicken was cooked to a perfect crisp, something that many places fail to do. The sugary sweet waffles and maple syrup add a perfect complement to the chicken. I wouldn't be surprised if I were back here this month to order this again.

Wonder Coffeehouse perfectly encapsulates the "City of Good Neighbors" attitude that Buffalo prides itself on. There is a subtle sense of community that you feel the moment you step into the atmosphere. I encourage everyone if they wanted to support one small business, have it be this one.

Thank you for reading. As always if you enjoyed, leave a like and/or comment. Here are some shots I took while there.
