First College Apartment Impressions

I am finally all moved in and let me just say I am obsessed with my apartment. I'm living in a four bedroom, two bathroom apartment with three of my best friends. Even though I only lived in the dorms for one and a half semesters (thank you COVID), I was more than ready for off campus housing. While it's only been four days, I am already having a ton of fun and enjoying my new surroundings. My building is the closest to the street that takes you over to campus which is super convenient. It is also adjacent to the main building which facilitates the laundry and fitness room. That will be especially nice when the weather starts to get cooler soon.

Let me take you on a walk through my room. I had SO much fun decorating it and picking out what to bring for it. Last year my dorm was very loud and had a lot of colors going on, so this year I switched it up to a calmer vibe. My main theme I would say is greenery. I have read articles here and there about how adding plants (alive or fake) helps to improve your mental health. With classes being mostly online, I will be spending more time than I would like in my room so whatever makes it less depressing I am all for.

It feels like I am living in a pretty garden because of all of the flowers, plants, and garland I have added. I of course had to keep the LED lights because there is nothing better than falling asleep under pink, purple, and blue lights. Side note: if your lights come with an app where you can set presets I recommend that combination for the best look.

If you are looking for a similar setup I would recommend Walmart and Hobby Lobby. My flowers were all from walmart along with all the tools I used to hang everything up. The plants and garland were from Hobby Lobby which happened to be 50% off almost the entire store. Pro tip: Hobby Lobby always has a 40% off one item coupon you just have to google "hobby lobby 40 off" and it should come up. The main colors you want to be looking for is light pink and green. You can also subtly add other colors like I did with my throw pillows to mix it up a bit.

I hope this post helped or inspired someone to change up their bedroom's look. Always remember to make sure you are decorating your room for YOU. It doesn't matter if it's trending on pinterest if it doesn't make you feel happy and comfortable. Whether it's basic, loud, or minimalist, embrace it!!
